日本建築師事務所 SANAA（妹島和世 + 西澤立衛 | Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa）受邀設計2009年的 Serpentine Gallery Pavilion。
位於倫敦肯辛頓公園內的蛇型藝廊（Serpentine Gallery），每年夏天都會出現三個月的臨時建築 - Serpentine Gallery Pavilion，作為派對、展覽或演講等活動的場地，夏天過了就立即拆除。
不過蛇型藝廊(Serpentine Gallery)也不會隨便邀請建築師，首先，邀請的建築師必須未曾在英國有過其他建築作品（也就是說讓這些受邀的建築師所設計的 Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 成為他們在英國的第一件作品），建築師進行設計時，必須注意的事項包括：需為開放空間、基地面積僅有300平方米、臨時性建築。
歷年來曾獲邀請設計 Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 的建築師包括：Zaha Hadid、Daniel Libeskind、Toyo Ito、MVRDV(設計未實現)、Oscar Niemeyer、Rem Koolhaas、Frank O. Gehry 等，其中六位得過建築界最高榮譽普立茲克獎(Pritzker Architecture Prize)。
